My Story

Hi! I'm Konrad Zawadzki.

I'm a student at Upper Canada College in Toronto.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a devastating disease that affects young boys and their families, shortening life spans and causing unimaginable pain and heartache as patients' muscles waste away. It's a genetic disorder that runs in my family, and it's why I'm so passionate about the Lift To End Duchenne initiative.

The reality is that it's easy to take our own health and wellness for granted, but when we're faced with the knowledge that others' ability to run, jump and play sports is cut short, we're reminded of how lucky we truly are. We can make a difference and bring hope to those who are suffering from this disease.

At present, there is no known cure for DMD, and treatment options are limited to managing symptoms and slowing the progression of this fatal disease. This is why fundraising is so critical. Defeat Duchenne Canada is committed to creating a future without Duchenne, and by donating and participating in Lift To End Duchenne, we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by DMD.

But it's not just about collecting donations or attending talks. It's about coming together, appreciating what we have, and doing what we can to help those who aren't as fortunate. Together, we can work towards a future where this debilitating disorder is no longer a threat to our loved ones.

Thank you for supporting me in this cause.
